Cemeteries of South Australia.

Cemetery listings are a rich source of information about our ancestors.

Many South Australian council areas have participated in a joint project through the Local Government Association, which provides a searchable database on interments within these council areas. From each council's individual website, you can search not only particular cemeteries within that area, but also state-wide. Sadly, not all South Australian councils have included graves registration lists on their websites.

Adelaide's Centennial Park Cemetery has an excellent searchable database.

Ozgen Online has links to Australian Cemeteries, divided into state groups. Many different people have visited cemeteries across the country, and transcribed data which can be accessed from these pages. For some cemeteries, although online data is not available, email links are provided for information requests. South Australia's listings have links to Centennial Park, and to the council websites mentioned above, as well to personal sites with cemetery transcriptions.

I am in the processes of constructing a searchable database, which will include both transcriptions that I have done, and also name listings from transcriptions that are available on the web elsewhere. This can be used in conjunction with other resources to smake finding records as easy as possible. My intention is to greatly reduce the need to visit many different sites in search of information. The search facility below can be used:

For cemeteries that have been transcribed by others, I include only a name listing, along with a link that can be followed to seek out further information. For cemeteries that I have transcribed, each name includes a link to a transcription of the epitaph.
